Now, I know what you’re thinking “Velvet joggers as a basic” and my answer, “Yes, fool!” I will say velvet joggers probably aren’t for everyone but I love them. They’re so soft, cozy and comfortable. They literally feel like sweats but because they’re made in luxe velvet it makes them sassy and pulled together.
Because the fabric is thicker and I have a full lower body I typically wear these joggers with a crop top that has a cinched waist band hitting right at the top of the pants. Balancing your proportions is important so your body and shape aren’t lost in the fabric.
I bought these joggers last year from the GAP, they re-released them this year in both black and navy. The navy is still fully stocked but the black is limited in sizing.
Some of you may know I have a mild obsession with UK fashion this season which inspired me to get this pink teddy coat, Pippa. We named her Pippa on Instagram. After studying the ladies of UK looks I noticed it’s all pretty much the same, a basic top and denim or a sweatsuit but all looks are layered with a dope ass coat. So, the key to looking European chic is the coat. You can literally wear anything underneath.
For my Euro chic look I went with my go-to uniform of denim and white underneath a statement coat.
I’ve said it a million times a go-to uniform is a must have. When you’re pinched for time or only have a few pieces at your disposal (hello, travels) you need to be able to grab something with little thought but still feel good in it. Everyone’s uniform is going to be different, and you can have numerous go-to uniforms. In addition to a denim and white uniform I also go for all black or a sweatshirt dress. I don’t care what anyone says a grey sweatshirt dress is uniformable.
Your go-to uniform is literally a style you reach for and love.
Examples …
Wrap dresses
Black denim + Black top
All denim (Hello Canadian Tuxedo!)
Classic trouser pant and button down blouse
Sweatsuit *raises hand proudly*
Dress with sneakers *raises hand again*
Denim with a blouse front tucked
If you don’t know what your uniform is think of what looks you reach for the most that make you feel amazing. The ones that make you say, “Damn, that’s a bad bish” when you look in the mirror. That is your uniform and I give you permission to buy more of that style.
I never put white tops, denim or sweatshirt dresses through the Rule of 5 because I know I’ll wear it because they’re my uniform. I don’t go overboard on them but I don’t give myself a hard time about purchasing those pieces either.
Moral is after you’ve conditioned yourself to put your purchases through the Rule of 5 and you know what your uniform is you can use the Rule loosely with pieces of your uniform.
I’m wearing the 2″ Lauren Monogram on a 16″ Chain in Gold from my shop! #SupportYaGirl I’ve had this monogram 4 years so while it is 18kt gold dipped with proper care it will hold up nice.
My signature earring is hands down a hoop, I pretty much only own hoops and they’ve been my go-to 10+ years now. Hoops in general not this specific pair. Currently, tube hoops in a brushed gold are my fave and this pair is in constant rotation!
This is my everyday watch. After staring at a friends wrist adorned with this watch for a month or two I decided I needed it! I absolutely love a big watch, the bigger the face the better. I like the face of a watch to be the size of the front of my wrist.
If you didn’t know Amazon has ALL the dupes so now I’m building my “Cartier” bracelet collection lol Check out the pieces I just added to the team as well HERE and HERE. & Don’t forget your Love Ring HERE!
I’m growing my Cartier Love Collection (dupes!) so I had to get a ring! This style was the thickest band I found but there are thinner versions. Check that out HERE. I have the Love Bracelet OTW to complete my look.
Recently, I’m talking maybe 1-2 years ago I FINALLY started playing with lip color. Because I’m not sure what I like yet instead of blowing money on a good lipstick I’ve been experimenting with drug store brands while I find my way. I have found I like nudes the best so when my fave, Emily Ann Gemma recommended Maybelline Baddest Beige I ran to the store to try it out. Immediately, I LOVED it however, the formula lasts maybe 5 minutes max. The staying power is terrible but I finally found a shade I was obsessed with and ready to invest in so the $5 spent was 100% worth it.
I took my $5 lipstick to Nordstrom with a swatch on my hand and swatched the Charlotte Tilbury colors to compare. SN: Charlotte Tilbury is another Emily Ann Gemma brand recommedation lol. With hard work and determination I scored and found an exact match!
Now this shade is a signature shade for me. It started about 8 years ago when I found Essie “Mint Candy Apple” and I wore it for about 4 years straight. After taking a complete hiatus from this shade the past few years I thought it was time to bring it back! My salon didn’t have the Essie shade so I found a similar shade from OPI “Suzi Without A Paddle”.
This name necklace is my everyday go-to, it’s actually my 3rd Carrie Name Necklace. My first was on an 18″ chain, my second one was the Medium style on a 14″ chain and this one, the newest to the team is the Classic Carrie on a 14″ chain. This one adds a bit more punch than the Medium and is perfect for Summer with the 14″ chain giving it a choker vibe.

I’m wearing the Kim KWshade. The only difference to my eye is the Maybelline has a bit of shimmer while Kim KW does not. The Charlotte Tilbury stays on for hours, it does not withstand a full meal but she does the job!
