I traded out my normal white and denim for my favorite black sweatshirt with denim. Shout out to Diana Chantel for the sweatshirt recommendation! By pairing the black sweatshirt with a medium wash distressed denim along with classic white sneakers keeps the look light a summery. The black swoosh detail ties in the sweatshirt. So simple and easy to achieve while remaining crisp, classic and chic!
I added some of my fave accessories with this classic look to sass it up and make it more Julia. My anklet and Signet ring are both new at shopjuliamarie.com
My black heart sunglasses are a YSL dupe I found on Amazon for $10. I was unsure if I’d wear them or not and so far I’ve been reaching for them mostly because they’re comfortable lol I’m definitely going to order another color. I’m thinking pink, white or tortoise???
Because people always ask, I’m drinking a Matcha Green Tea Latte with Almond Milk.
This look continues to be one of my faves, even a year later.
This look never made it to the blog. It’s a year and a half old, so everything is old. Top and Denim are Madewell, Sneakers – Vans and Bag is from Target.
This one didn’t make it to the blog either. My top, sandals and handbag are no longer available. I’m wearing my fave high waist jeans from Madewell. Shop those HERE

My fave slim BF jeans from Madewell with a $5 sweatshirt I got at Wal-Mart and cut to crop myself.
I can’t find this post, I guess it didn’t make it either.
It’s no secret that my favorite go-to uniform for Spring is white and denim. It’s so crisp, clean, easy, and always in style. I almost always pair my denim and white with nude sandals or a white sneaker. Maybe I should mix it up from time to time but that’s what makes it my personal style and MY go-to uniform. lol
Having a few go-to uniforms in your arsenal will save you time and money. Money, because if you’re like me and want to make sure you wear all of your clothes to get your monies worth you won’t buy much that doesn’t fit one of your uniforms. Time, because you’ll have those go-to looks and pieces you can grab in a rush and still know you’ll look great.
Ummmm. Happy Birthday dress to me! My birthday was 2 months ago but on January 2nd I start shopping for my Summer wardrobe and I’ve really wanted to add a fun printed Adidas shirt dress to my collection. This print was released in January and perfect for Summer and is in my color palette aka pink lol. Even though there’s no pink in the dress pink coordinates so well with it.
This summer I plan to wear this dress …
1. ALL the time when running errands.
2. With nude sandals (gladiator) and slides.
3. Maybe with these sneakers
Obviously, or maybe not, I did NOT Rule of 5 this. I don’t think I can think of 5 ways to wear this dress with the exception of 5 different pairs of shoes. However, I can think of all the Target runs this will be worn on and that’s at least 30 wears this Summer! haha
I’ve wanted a wild printed Adidas dress for a year or so, so I didn’t care about Rule of 5‘ing it. We all deserve a random splurge from time to time and this was mine!
As always I will not lie to you, I took these photos a month ago and was on the fence with this dress. I didn’t love and tbh I wasn’t sure I even liked it and that was after recording a Rule of 5 (watch below). It was still 40 degrees a month ago so I literally took pix with this dress on and changed REAL fast.
Fast forward to yesterday, 65 and sunny and I was PRESSED to wear Spring clothes so I threw this dress on with my new Cortez and mini backpack. Y’all, I LOVE it now! It was exactly what I wanted it to be. Easy to throw on and go and chic AF with proper styling. After an actual wear I can say with confidence this dress will be a go-to this season!
Check out 5 ways to style this denim shirt dress below. You can find how I styled this dress yesterday on my Instagram feed. (@julia.marie.b) *bonus 6th look!
This dress hits mid thigh and with a good gust of wind will reveal the tush so this is a mini dress in my humble opinion. This was one of my first purchases for Spring. The long sleeves and the color black make it a good transition piece. I will say that if you don’t want to expose your boobs and/or bra you will want to layer a tank, tube top (yes, you can get one at TopShop for $10) or a bralette if that’s your thing.
I did NOT Rule of 5 it because it was under $20 and any dress can be easily styled 5 different ways by changing shoes. Speaking of, we’ll be back to Rule of 5’ing it next week I had to take a break while I got some things taken care of at Julia Marie. See, there’s only one of me and I can only do so much in 24 hours. Moral of the story, Rule of 5 will be back for your viewing pleasure.
Denim and White is and will always be a classic staple look. With the right switch of accessories you can take the same top and bottom combo from juniors game to drinks with the ladies. In my mind there are Mom’s who do this so let me have it, and even though you love junior they’re aggravating AF and you’ve earned your drinks.
Both my top and bottoms are classic pieces from Madewell, they’re basics that until further notice are available year round. I actually bought both of these pieces a year and a half ago and they’re still in rotation.
HERE is one of my other fave white and denim looks featuring this top.
& HERE is another fave denim and white look featuring these jeans.
Denim never goes out of style, neither does white making this the perfect go-to uniform especially in Spring. The denim is heavy enough to give you some warmth while the white top is light enough to get a good breeze. If you don’t already have an arsenal of denim and white I highly recommend you Rule of 5 a few new pieces. If you stay away from white, black is a good combo with denim.
