And another one! After months I finally had this red maxi dress hemmed, it was about 5 inches too long for me to wear it with flats and I must wear my flats. I scored this dress over the winter for $25 from Vici Collection but guess how much the hemming was … $32 ish!! Long story short I probably won’t buy another maxi dress that needs hemming.
Because I can not, will not justify purchasing clothes just because not even to wear “on the blog” I wanted to restyle this dress again for you guys. You can see the first time I styled this dress HERE.
My favorite easy peasy way to style a maxi dress is with sassy sandals that typically include metallics and studs, what can I say I love a little bling! Pairing your dress with a hat is a great way to add interest and protect your face from the sun. One of the many ways I keep away premature aging is HATS, when I’m out in the sun I almost always wear sunglasses and hats.
Recently, I was diagnosed with melasma which are brown spots/discoloration from hormones one way to try to help keep the discoloration to a minimum is to protect your face from the sun. Diagnosed sounds a bit serious but I guess that’s what you’d refer to it as lol
To top off a casual glam summer maxi dress a classic handbag is perfect! I just added this monogram MCM clutch to my handbag collection, I’ve always wanted the Louis Vuitton clutch (yes, I know it’s a toiletry bag) but couldn’t justify the cost because I was unsure how much I’d use it. The MCM option was more affordable, gives the same vibe and always kick starts my luxury bag collection. There’s going to a collection y’all just wait on it!
With all things 90’s and early 00’s on major trend we should have known neon was soon to come. While we know I will support a full head to toe neon look along with anything else you want to wear that makes you feel like a bad bish! Some may want to dabble with the neon trend without doing a full Kim K in Miami last Summer … you know the look, it included a neon green Mercedes truck.
If you want to wear neon but not sure how I’m here to help and guide you into the neon look of your dreams lol.
The key to wearing neon is to pair 1 (maybe 2, if you’re wild) piece with neutrals. For this look I went with a basic pair of light wash denim, gold sandals and a clear PVC bag. By pairing the neon with neutrals the bright color was toned down and made to look more everyday.
If you like to wear darker colors neon looks very good with all black. You’ll achieve a sleeker, street style look with all black as well. To wear neon with black follow the same formula from above.
BOOM!! Super easy!
If your style is very bold and you want to wear head to toe neon, DO IT!!! That is very on trend and super dope in my book too!

First off, this dress was all the rage on Instagram a few weeks ago. It’s hands down the most sold item I’ve ever shared. I mean, I don’t push selling stuff but still.
Secondly, I’ve had this dress for 3 years so when everyone was asking me sizing questions I didn’t actually know. I was making educated guesses. See, I’ve had this dress for years but because I know what I know about small boutiques and where they actually get their clothes I knew I could find this on Amazon and that’s what I did for you guys. I found the dress on Amazon and you guys all said you loved it so I’m going with I was right and I like being right.
I talk about maximizing your wardrobe and using new pieces of the season to update pieces you already have in your closet all the time. It’s literally the purpose of my site. WTBS, I used my favorite of the season accessories to update “this old thing” also known as this mumu dress. This is a mumu dress in my book.
Because I’ve had such a hard time finding clothing I love and want to actually buy I went to my closet to see what I can restyle. While searching my dress section I found this dress, when I realized I hadn’t worn it in years I decided it was the winner I’d be restyling with new accessories.
In The Rule of 5 we start with a neutral color palette of classic silhouettes to help us maximize our wardrobes, this dress is a prime example as to why. By choosing a simple silhouette in a neutral color 3 years after purchasing it I was able to restyle it with on trend accessories making it current.

A straw fedora is one of my favorite styles come Summer so it was an immediate purchase when I found this one in H&M for $12.
During one of my infamous Target Runs (they’re infamous, you heard it here first!) I tried on these octagon sunglasses with you guys on stories and immediately bought them, they’ve been the pair I pick up and wear most this season.
Lastly, earlier in the year I finally took the plunge and bought the Mini Julian bookbag and I’m so glad I did I use it almost daily but that’s also my bag MO. I really wanted the LV Palm Springs book bag but the way my goals are set up I went with the Julian.
Next time you get in a rut or can’t think of anything to wear remember The Rule of 5 and shop your closet first. Style an old piece with new pieces for a refreshed vibe and it’ll feel like new. Bonus: you’ll save money by not running to the store to buy something new!
Finally, I found a pair of pants with a rise high enough to wear this crop sweatshirt without showing stomach *praise hands* I bought this sweatshirt in January with hopes to wear it in Spring. Well, Atlanta had Spring for 2 weeks so I got 1 wear in during that time frame. … There’s always Fall!
As you may know one of my favorite go-to uniforms is denim and white. For this denim and white look I went with on-trend silhouettes of a crop sweatshirt and light wash Mom Jeans. I know, these don’t fit like Mom jeans however since these photos were taken these jeans fit looser through the hips and legs making them Mom Jean approved! While denim and white is classic AF, this look is updated to be of the moment with the use of trendy silhouettes.
While updating the cuts of the pieces that make up your denim and white ensemble can refresh the look the real sass comes with the accessories. Your accessories are going to determine where it looks like you’re going and your overall vibe.
I’m rather casual but like to add fun playful touches come Summer so I paired my denim and white with super fun lemon jelly sandals. After determining what shoes I’d wear I thought of this yellow turban I bought from Amazon. Originally, I thought to wear this turban with dresses but wanted to add it to a casual look to help elevate it and that’s exactly what it did.
If you wanted to dress up the same denim and white pieces you absolutely can with the right choice of shoes and accessories. On trend PVC or Neon Heels would give you a GNO vibe. You can go classic with a nude heel and a clutch for date night or keep it super casual with sneakers.
Chub rub can be best described as when your thighs love on one another while wearing a dress, short shorts in beautiful hot humid weather creating moisture and your thighs refusing to part. They’re soulmates, okay!
Why do we want to prevent Chub Rub?
Well, when hot sweaty skin rubs against more hot sweaty skin it can create some really painful burning (not that kind) the kind of burning sensation that comes from raw skin that you’ve just rubbed off. OUCH!
SHORTS METHOD
I have heard of/read a few different methods to fight off chub rub and I will share them all. Personally, I have one method that I have been using almost a decade now, shorts (think Spanx but not that constricting) I don’t wear shorts IRL, ever. Never. Ever. so my potential chub rub happens when I wear dresses. I choose to fight off chub rub with shorts when wearing my favorite dresses for more than one reason.
1) I’m a lady and have a rather large rump and shorts give men less jiggle to fantasize about. Also, my butt tends to grab the fabric from my dress anytime I make a sudden move and shorts prevent this from happening as well as smooths me out and tightens me up
2) Shorts prevent the world from seeing my Britney (Like I said, LADY!). Unfortunately, I have seen numerous butt cheeks unintentionally from women who didn’t realize their underwear wasn’t going to provide them coverage when they reached for socks on the bottom tier of a fixture.
3) No Chub Rub because my thighs never actually touch one another.
I have numerous shorts I wear my absolute FAVORITE are a pair of Rachel Zoe for Jockey. I found them at Ross for $7 a few years ago, I haven’t been blessed with another score like that since but I’m still searching *cues BabyFace “When will I see you again”*

If you brave short shorts and want to prevent chub rub products are the way to go.
Disclaimer: I have never used any of these products for chub rub (I stick to shorts) so my recommendations are from hear say.
Baby Powder. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a HUGE advocate for Baby Powder (Johnson & Johnson have your people call my people). At one point I literally used it for everything. Hello hot humid summer in Charleston. Dry Shampoo? No, Baby Powder. Sweaty feet in closed toe shoes? Baby Powder (that’s another post!). If you’re in a pinch baby powder can be a quick fix just pat baby powder on your inner thighs and BOOM you should be good a block or 5
Mega Babe. I got a few DM’s recommending this product when we were talking about Chub Rub on Instagram. They have a few different products to help prevent chub rub. It’s a small business too so definitely support!
Deodorant. For the same reasons you use it under your arms is the same reason to use it on your thighs. It will keep your thighs fresh and dry and from ripping each other a part.
Body Glide. It is literally in a deodorant style package and is $8 with the tagline “the original anti chaff” It appears to just be deodorant with a huge price mark-up because it’s marketed to a different part of your body. However, idk because I’ve never used it. You do you, though!
Monistat Chaff Gel. So, Monistat has grown their product offering to include keeping your thighs in one, well two pieces. It does the same thing as the products above and one reviewer even recommends it to prevent foot blisters from your shoes. I wonder if this covers new shoes too? If so, brb ordering mine now!
UPDATE: I did try the Monistat Chaff Gel, I thought it would be good to double down with it and shorts in the heat. I don’t have full feedback as I used it when I was just running to the store. It felt nice though lol
