If I love one article or style of clothing hands down it is a sweatsuit, sweatshirt or sweatpants. I love a sweat anything so I thought it was only right I pulled my favorites of my Fall Winter Sweatsuit Collection. Not all pieces are sweats some are knits, some are velvet but it’s all the same.
WHO ELSE HAS BOUGHT A NEW TOP BECAUSE YOU “LOVED IT SO MUCH” THEN MONTHS LATER IT STILL HASN’T BEEN WORN?
We’ve all been there! There has been a time in our life we’ve walked in our closet looking for something to wear only to be reminded of the items we purchased but still haven’t worn, tags still attached and all.
When we make impulse purchases we end up with a closet of one offs that we only have one other item to wear with it, if even that.
When we make impulse purchases we end up with a closet full of clothes yet still have NOTHING to wear. WHY are we like this?!
In 2013, after losing 20lbs, purging 90% of my closet and only having a clothing budget of $150 a month I was in desperate need of a high functioning wardrobe. That is when, why and how I created my #1 shopping rule, The Rule of 5.
I knew in order to still buy quality pieces I loved I was going to have to get creative (and disciplined) and that’s exactly what I did. Every single purchase I made for the following year was well thought out and 100% intentional. I had no room for impulse purchases, the function of my wardrobe couldn’t afford it.
I bet you don’t like throwing your money away, do you?
We all deserve to hit our financial goals (and best wardrobes) and a great starting point is to become more intentional with what we spend our money on.
I want you to be great in everything you do so I wrote a 24 page book to fully share The Rule of 5 with you. There’s even worksheets for you to brainstorm your goal wardrobe!

Sweater: One of my favorite purchases this season, wool blend sweater with a split fold over turtleneck. I ordered a size up for a oversized look and to help cover the bum.
Leggings: F/W must haves, I bought a size up. I am in between sizes though.
LOOK 2
Bodysuit: c/o Yummie this season. I went up a size.
Leggings: F/W must haves, I bought a size up. I am in between sizes though.
Poncho: 5 years old from C. Wonder
LOOK 3
Sweater Dress: This is a new purchase I made earlier this season. I bought my TTS and it fits great. There were a few other color options
Similar Vest: My vest is 5+ years old from Old Navy.
LOOK 4
Current Hoodie: My hoodie is from the 8th grade, it’s true vintage at 20+ years old. I’m so proud of it and all it’s holes from distressing and the few bleach marks on the pocket from when I was cleaning the kitchen 15 years ago.
Similar Jeans: These are 2 years old from Madewell, Madewell denim does live up to the hype. I recommend splurging if you haven’t tried them yet.
LOOK 5
Turtleneck SS: Hashtag. Purchase. One of my favorite and most affordable purchases this season at only $25. Is it a sweatshirt, is it a proper sweater? It’s lowkey both!
Joggers: I bought my TTS, they are made to be oversized. I wear this proper makeshift sweatsuit once a week, it’s so cozy and warm. The turtleneck makes it chic.
In short, it just looks so chic and put together, an all black look is instant street style. Not only is it instant chic but you can buy 10-20 pieces and interchange them for a gazillion different looks … I don’t know the actual math on that so I’m going with a gazillion. All black also pairs well with most shoes and accessories too! You can easily throw on a printed shoe or a bold statement coat, a pop of color will also stand out.
While I won’t be taking all black into S/S I will be revisiting it next F/W.
TURTLENECK : Size up. This is a shaper bodysuit so it holds everything in and smooths it out. It is a full bottom bodysuit so it may cut into your booty cheeks creating panty lines.
DENIM : I got these jeans two years ago but lucky for you they’re a staple classic and still available. They are a high rise with a 9″ rise, they fit TTS, have good stretch and don’t loose shape. They lift the booty and round it out.
SHOES : The pair I’m wearing are the womens version which has sold out so I’ve linked the mens version.
Turtleneck: I wear this at least once a week, it’s a sassy dressed up sweatshirt so it’s soft and cozy but also work appropriate in a business casual environment. I wanted a more fitted cropped look so I sized down and it fits perfect.
Knit Top: I bought this set back in August, it was one of my first Fall purchases. It can be dressed up and worn out with heels or booties, wearing it as lounge wear is an option as well. I’m 5’4″ so this top is very cropped I bought my TTS, if you size up that may give you some extra length
Knit Joggers: Everything I said up top, I ordered TTS. Because I’m a curvy pear shape these are very fitted on me, when I tried a size up they fit the same but are too big in the waist. I’ve seen these on non-curvy girls + the model on the size and they are more of a loose fit on those not well endowed in the butt, hip and thigh area. Both fits are very cute!
Clutch: So cute and fun! An easy and inexpensive way to give your look a winter wonderland touch.
Handbag: I bought this as a Summer handbag, I’ve seen girls wear it in the F/W and it was still very cute. I added a faux fur pouch inside to make it more Fall appropriate. It does have a cross body strap, I’m 5’4″ for reference, if you’re much taller the strap may be too short to cross body. You can wear it on your shoulder, however, I do not subscribe to wearing handbags hanging off your shoulder. Not because of how it looks but because nothing says, “Rob Me, please” more than your handbag dangling off your shoulder. It also is a bit restricting in movement. That’s a total personal preference though. Last and most important, I have the Large
Shoes: Another item I purchased in the Summer. These come from China so there is a 3-4 week ship time on them. I bought the womens style but that is no longer available so I linked the men’s. It’s the same exact style just in men’s sizing. This are not a full fledged knock-off as they do not say Gucci anywhere nor is there a logo. This is more of a dupe.
Sunglasses: Another Summer purchase, clearly I was going HAM on Amazon this past Summer. The Starbucks drive-thru people love these they always talk about me before I pull up to the window and all come to the window to tell me they love my glasses when I get my drink. I love them! Other than that story, these are super comfortable, will elevate your look and only $10. They are also very comfortable. I love these YSL dupes and they are my everyday car driving sunglasses.
Bar Bracelet: I will not lie, this is my 2nd bar bracelet and the second time I lost the nail/bolt thing. Still a favorite and I’ll still order a 3rd one!
Love Ring: I wear this almost daily wear it when I wash my hands, only faded a little bit.
Love Bracelet: Same as above except this one is screwed on so I don’t take it off. It’s worn in the shower, gets perfume and lotion on it and so far hasn’t changed color or faded. I’ve been wearing it 2 weeks.
This Yummie shaper Black Mock Turtleneck Bodysuit is fitted so I sized up. It comes in S/M, M/L or L/XL. I wear a Medium so I went with the M/L and let me tell you it was a struggle getting it over my shoulders. Because it is a shaper it really smooths out the mid section and holds everything in. As stated in the video it is a full butt body suit, personally I need a thong but with joggers and trousers this works.

Black Denim: these are 2 years old from Madewell, this is a classic pair of their denim so they are still available.
Vans: I mean, classic platform vans. I bought mine last Winter.
Quilted Clutch: Only $30, such a fun in expensive way to make a look Winter ready. I bought this 2 months ago.
LOOK 2
PVC Handbag: This is the large size, it does have a crossbody strap. $35, maybe $40. I purchased this past Summer
White Sneaker: These are current everyday shoes, I’m wearing my TTS. Purchased these 4 ish months ago
Similar Joggers: the joggers I’m wearing were purchased 2 years ago from the GAP.
LOOK 3
Similar Skirt: My skirt was purchased in September but sold out in about a month.
Similar Booties: The booties I’m wearing were purchased last Winter
Similar Jeans: My jeans were purchased 2 years ago from Madewell. They are a Slim Boy Jean, Madewell almost always has slim boy cuts but they are not all the same however, that is the cut you’re looking for.
Shoes: The ladies version of these sold out so I linked the men’s. Google a womens to mens size conversion chart to get your correct size, then go a half size up.
LOOK 5
Similar Pants: 14 years old from Express, that is all I have to say about them. lol They are a highwaist paperbag wide leg trouser
