One of the most purchased items from my Instagram Queens has been the Gucci dupes both from Amazon and Target so it was only right I bring you guys a Rule of 5 post featuring our Fur Loafers. I love this shoe so much, they’re stylish + on trend, the fur makes them look extra and that same fur keeps your feet warm in the colder months.
It is recommended with fur loafers to go up a half size. I wear an 8.5 so I sized up to a 9 and they fit perfect.
While we are styling these loafers for a Rule of 5 there is hundreds of ways you can wear these slides but this is the Rule of 5 so 5 ways it is. Keep your eyes peeled to my Instagram (both feed and stories) and my website, I’m very confident you’ll get more style ideas this season.
WHO ELSE HAS BOUGHT A NEW TOP BECAUSE YOU “LOVED IT SO MUCH” THEN MONTHS LATER IT STILL HASN’T BEEN WORN?
We’ve all been there! There has been a time in our life we’ve walked in our closet looking for something to wear only to be reminded of the items we purchased but still haven’t worn, tags still attached and all.
When we make impulse purchases we end up with a closet of one offs that we only have one other item to wear with it, if even that.
When we make impulse purchases we end up with a closet full of clothes yet still have NOTHING to wear. WHY are we like this?!
In 2013, after losing 20lbs, purging 90% of my closet and only having a clothing budget of $150 a month I was in desperate need of a high functioning wardrobe. That is when, why and how I created my #1 shopping rule, The Rule of 5.
I knew in order to still buy quality pieces I loved I was going to have to get creative (and disciplined) and that’s exactly what I did. Every single purchase I made for the following year was well thought out and 100% intentional. I had no room for impulse purchases, the function of my wardrobe couldn’t afford it.
I bet you don’t like throwing your money away, do you?
We all deserve to hit our financial goals (and best wardrobes) and a great starting point is to become more intentional with what we spend our money on.
I want you to be great in everything you do so I wrote a 24 page book to fully share The Rule of 5 with you. There’s even worksheets for you to brainstorm your goal wardrobe!

LOOK 1
This is what I wore today, if you watch the video you’ll see the coat I wore with it as well. Very chic if I do say so myself.
Sweater: This is a wool sweater and much needed for this cold Winter we are about to receive. I purchased a size up, it fit perfect at first but with wear it does stretch out so now I kind of wish I would have bought my TTS.
Leggings: These are warmer, cozier and more season appropriate than the leather leggings. I mean velvet just screams holiday time! I ordered my TTS, they were a little snug so I did my stretch trick and now they fit perfect. I recommend sizing up.
LOOK 2
This knit set from Zara was one of my first Fall purchased this year and I still love it so much. I’ve seen the joggers in store recently but not the top.
Top: I purchased TTS, I am 5’4″ and a little midriff does show, if you are any taller and do not want to show stomach this is a no-go for you.
Joggers: I’m wearing my TTS, these are insanely high waisted, I highly recommend them. If you like the joggers but the top isn’t for you I’d still recommend the joggers, just pair them with a different top. Duh!
LOOK 3
I feel like I’ve said this is my favorite outfit for each look this season but it’s true! I was able to achieve my dream wardrobe this Fall/Winter
Turtleneck: This was a gifted item from Yummie, prior I purchased a similar Turtleneck bodysuit from the juniors department at Target and the quality wasn’t good so I was happy to upgrade that piece. This turtleneck is a shaping pieces so it holds you in and smooths you out. After struggling to get it over my shoulder and snapped in the crotch I determined that I love it because it does exactly what it’s suppose to!
Similar Denim: This are my tried and true denim I wear THE MOST, they’re two years old from Madewell. They are the slim boy jeans silhouette, they usually have a pair or two each season in this cut.

Joggers: These are an inexpensive pair of 90’s joggers, they do exactly what they’re suppose to. They are an oversized fit, I recommend ordering TTS.
Bomber: This Velvet Bomber Jacket was gifted to me two years ago. I love it still, it’s cozy, comfortable and on trend.
Tote: This style is a classic canvas bag from Madewell, however, the camo print was from Spring 2018 and is no longer available. This tote is affordable and a piece you’ll have for years
LOOK 5
Jacket: This set is from last year so this color is no longer available. I bought a size up for an oversized look on top.
Pants: I’m wearing my TTS, I really wanted these to hit about a half to full inch higher on the ankle but when your legs are 2 feet long this is what you get. I am 5’4″ for reference on the length.
I wear sneakers with EVERYTHING right now, and I when I was re-upping for Fall I decided to go with an all white pair. I love the classic structure of the Puma Cali Sneakers. A sleek cut is best to wear with dresses and leggings, in my opinion so this was a great choice for me. I wear these sneakers a few days a week and have easily gotten my monies worth.
Usually, our Rule of 5 posts I’m mixing up old items with new items but I have to give a disclaimer almost all of what I’m sharing I bought this season. If you download and read The Rule of 5 E-Book, you’ll know I had to start my wardrobe from scratch a few years ago and to be transparent this is the first Fall season since I’ve been able to financially purchase the Fall wardrobe of my dreams. With that being said, your girl balled!

Sweater: this is a highly recommend! It is wool so it is itchy but with proper layering and cold temps I don’t feel the itch. This is the sweater I’ve been reaching for when temps drop, it’s warm and cozy. It is oversized so it’s perfect to wear with leggings, I sized up anyways, I could have absolutely gotten my size and it would have still fit perfect.
Leggings: the Spanx leather leggings were an item I put on my must have list last Winter so they were my first purchase this season. I wear mine with oversized sweaters, sweatshirts and hoodies. I am a person that does not subscribe to leggings as pants, I do not own any leggings, this is my first pair and I highly recommend them and think they’re a must have.
Sweater Dress: This dress is a favorite, for now it’s perfect with sneakers. I plan to pair it with booties and OTK boots when the temps drop. I bought this dress is my TTS and it fits perfect. It is a midi length, I’m 5’4″ for length reference.
Sweater: I bought this sweater to wear as a set with this skirt. This sweater is an easy throw on and go with denim, skirts and eff it, sweatpants! I bought my TTS but wish I would have purchased a size up because I love oversized sweaters.
Skirt: While I bought this skirt to wear as a set I’ve paired it with t-shirts, black body suits and a black turtleneck sweater. It looks amazing with all. The weight on this skirt is good, no cellulite shows! It fits TTS
This. Dress. Right. Here. *praise hands* So far this is my most worn dress or skirt from my Fall selection. I will say it’s only dropped below 68 degrees a few days so I haven’t been able to really break out the sweaters and sweaters dress. The fabric of this dress is a good weight and does not show cellulite, keep in mind I wear shorts under all my dresses to smooth any potential cellulite out.
Our Rule of 5 this month is my reward for achieving my 2019 financial goals ( 3 months early too! ), that reward is the Louis Vuitton Alma BB in Ebene Damier. Prior to purchasing the handbag I stalked TF outta Pinterest looking for outfit ideas as I’m not someone who wears brown at all. In shocking news I could only find 5-10 looks I liked. While I’m sure you’ve seen this bag before it’s not the most popular LV bag making inspo photos scarce.
When I first considered doing a Rule of 5 featuring the LV Alma BB, I thought that was silly. It’s a handbag, and a handbag from one of the most popular designers, everyone knows what to wear. Then I remembered how I struggled finding outfit inspo before I dropped that money. That’s what sold me on doing this Rule of 5.
We all know Louis Vuitton is an investment, literally, the value of LV only increases with time. Knowing that I can sell this bag and make my money back helped me to justify the purchase. I also wanted to save a few dollars so I purchased my bag from Fashionphile and was able to save $300 off the retail cost. I did an unboxing on my IGTV if you want to check that out. I do recommend Fashionphile and will be purchasing from them again.

HAT: I bought this hat randomly 3 years ago at Wal-Mart for $3, they still have it but you have to go in store.
SWEATSHIRT: I swiftly bought this sweatshirt after I saw it on Emily Ann Gemma a month ago. I live in sweats and wanted a neon sweatshirt so it was a purchase no brainer. I’d say it fits TTS but because it is an oversized fit you can size up or down depending on how you want it to hang.
DENIM: Out of all the bottoms I own I get the most questions about this pair. These were an excellent purchase I made 2 years ago from Madewell. I have numerous pairs of jeans from Madewell and highly recommend them, they’re absolutely worth the money. This specific style was only available that Summer but they are a slim boyfriend jean if you want to keep your eye out for future styles or want to look for them on Poshmark.
This is a new knit set but I did not buy it to go with my UGG boots. I made sure it was Rule of 5 able though, okay I didn’t but I knew I’d wear TF out of it and while the high’s haven’t dropped below 89 I have worn it at least 5 times.
TOP: I’d say it fits TTS however, it is very cropped. I’m only 5’4″ and I pulled the top down as much as I can and my pants up as much as I could. lol If you want the top a little longer I recommend sizing up.
BOTTOMS: This is a jogger pant even if they look like leggings on me. Once again, order TTS, if you want them to fit like leggings size down. I’m in the process of losing weight so I ordered a size down (which is my normal TTS) so they’d fit as I lost weight.
STOP judging me!!! Both this hat and dress are new too *face palm* however, neither were purchased to pair with the boots and the dress was Rule of 5’d prior to purchasing.
HAT: I purchased this this season for $12 at H&M, I don’t tend to Rule of 5 seasonal accessories under $15. These are items I buy just to have fun and play with. I don’t go overboard and buy a ton, just a few pieces each season.
DRESS: This dress was something I’ve envisioned for years but I was unable to find one of good quality under $100. I saw this exact one last year but was $75 and that’s just wasn’t where I was at the time. Fast Forward to this July and I found this dress on clearance for $22 at Nordstrom Rack and it’s 100% Rule of 5-able
BOOKBAG: I got this bookbag 2 or 3 years ago from Madewell, it’s a good one. Durable and roomy, I recommend it that’s why I keep it in my arsenal.
Let’s just say I just updated my Fall/Winter wardrobe because everything I’m wearing is new. Every piece I’m wearing here was planned and Rule of 5’d prior to purchasing.
SWEATSHIRT: Last winter I reached for sweatshirts and leggings a few days a week. My #1 tip and trick to wearing sweatshirts and leggings is to buy sweatshirts from the men’s department, sizing up is recommended too. I lived in a white hoodie or black hoodie last year and wanted to update my “collection” with a black crewneck sweatshirt.
LEGGINGS: Last season I started wearing leggings for the first time but only had Adidas leggings. I kept wanting to pair sweaters and sweatshirts with leather leggings but didn’t have any so they were at the top of my Fall list this year. The weather hasn’t even dropped under 90 degrees and I’m already wearing these weekly (inside) so 100% worth it.
DRESS: Ahhhhh what The Rule of 5 is all about! This dress is 3-4 years old when the weather permits I wear it almost every week. It’s hands down one of my favorite and most worn purchases.

A co-ordinating sweater paired with OTK boots is perfect for work wear. It keeps you warm, cozy, lowkey feeling like you’re in sweats but you’re put together and professional.
Both the sweater and skirt are new, I actually bought them together so I could wear them as a set because I love a set. My boots were purchased 2 years ago from DSW, I’m always able to find a good OTK boot at DSW.
Pairing your skirt with a crop sweatshirt and sneakers is a great casual look for fun activities. You’re comfortable, chic but can move around easily.
My sneakers were a new purchase for Fall, I wear them at least 3xs a week. Pretty sure I got my monies worth the first month I bought them. My sweatshirt is from Last year, I found it at MissGuided. My beltbag is a Target purchase from 2 years ago.
This look is exactly what the Rule of 5 is about while the skirt and sneakers are new Fall for everything else is old. The pieces that created this look were purchased anywhere between 1-15 years ago. When you only bring items into your wardrobe you absolutely love and will wear you’ll have your pieces for 5, 10, 15 years!
These are the same sneakers from our Casual Chic look above, my T-shirt isn’t a T-shirt material it’s actually a twill fabric cut like a t-shirt regardless I got it last Spring from TJ Maxx. Denim jacket is 10-15 years old, Ralph Lauren from Macy’s. Hat was purchased 2 years ago from Wal-Mart for $3, they still have it too! This oversized clutch was a birthday gift from a friend about 5 years ago.
This was kind of a wild card look, I wasn’t sure how it was going to look, if the silhouettes would work well together or not but I yolo’d it anyways. After actually putting everything I on I really like it, it gives my cool NYC street vibes.
Another look that is the perfect example of the Rule of 5, the pieces that make this up are anywhere from 6 months – 10 years. My booties were added to the team last Fall, I scored them on sale at Nordstrom Rack. This satin bomber was picked up at H&M in July for $10 during their end of season sale. This is the same T from above. My hat which is a fave was scored 10 years ago from the men’s section at Target. The hat I linked is almost identical, I’m thinking of purchasing it as well to give this one an upgrade. Lastly, my clutch was purchased this Summer as a staple addition to my handbag collection.
YASSSS, QUEEN!!! I do yas queen myself, when you slay, you slay no need to be modest you deserve to give yourself credit. This was another wild card look for me, I wasn’t sure how it would come across but ma’am, it is hands down my favorite look of all 5! You can absolutely wear this to GNO, date night or even work (just take off the hat). The hat and the booties take this from work wear to sassy and chic for a night out.
Same booties and clutch from the last look. Sweater was purchased last year from Express, I love that it’s not cropped but does hit at the top of pants. The waist is also “ribbed” to give a cinched waist look, it’s my favorite optical illusion. My hat was a score I bought the day before at H&M, it’s a faux suede. I already have a black faux suede hat but it didn’t fit my head well. I have a very small head and this hat is smaller and has elastic in the back so it fits much better. Originally, I couldn’t remember if I really had a black suede baseball hat so I bought this one with the intention on returning it after I checked my inventory. However, when he rang me up it was only $4 so I’ll be donating my original hat to someone with a bigger head.
I included a bonus look because I really wanted to share this skirt with a flat loafer to wear to work if you don’t wear heels. Everything is the same from the last look.
These slide on loafers were purchased a few months ago from Fall/Winter, they are a Gucci dupe I found on Amazon. I’ve already started wearing them and the weather doesn’t even permit them yet. I love them so much, worth the purchase. I sized up per reviews but I think TTS would have worked after breaking them in aka you work the fur in. There’s a strong chance I’m going to invest in the actual Gucci’s next season, that’s how much I love them.

Sass up your sweatshirt dress with OTK boots and an on trend hat.
This look was created 2 years ago, I still have all pieces.
*All items worn are old*
For a city chic look I paired my favorite sweatshirt dress with a thrifted oversized blazer, classic Nike Cortez and MCM Clutch.
We know I don’t tailgate but I feel like layering your sweatshirt dress with a puffy vest or bomber jacket with sneakers is what you’d wear to tailgate.
Both of these looks I styled 2 years ago. Everything is super old.
Where are we going?? Target! What do we want?? Starbucks!! Obviously, that’s where we’re wearing this or to run errands, the kids soccer game.
One of my favorite ways to wear this sweatshirt dress I styled last year with this Missoni Cardigan and lace-up booties. It’s a mix of casual, I’m going to work and chic. I bought this cardigan during the original release in 2011 but it was just re-released for the 20th anniversary collection.
