SIMILAR HAT | SIMILAR SWEATER | DENIM (UPDATED VERSION) | BOOTIES | MONOGRAM NECKLACE

I think it’s time to share my shopping strategy with you guys. While most people assume I have a closet packed full of pieces the fact is I don’t. The same people may assume I shop and buy a low key wardrobe every month, once again they’d be wrong. I’m very mindful about only bringing pieces into my wardrobe that

  1. I 100% love
  2. I can style 5 ways with items I already own
  3. That I feel good in
  4. That is flattering to my figure
  5. That is quality that I can wear for years

With this being said, there’s usually a “big ticket” item I want. Because I’m frugal anything over $50 is a big ticket item. My big ticket items are usually in the $75 -$100 range and there are a few each season or 1-2 a month depending if it’s the switch of seasons. I allow myself 1-2 big ticket items a month and a few lower priced items a month. Lower priced items are typically under $30. So, while I am frugal I do spend on quality items that will take me through the years.

For instance, the boots I’m wearing in this look were a “big ticket” item for my Fall/Winter wardrobe. They were $100. While the hat I’m wearing was $20 from Target. Both items I love and wanted as key pieces to this seasons wardrobe, one high and one low. Each item revitalizes pieces I already own making the full look current.

The denim I’m wearing was a “big ticket” item I purchased end of the Summer ($140) and the sweater I’m wearing was a low item I purchased last Fall ($30).

Because I made sure to check off all the items on the purchase checklist I mentioned above is why I still love and wear this sweater from last year.

This is just a little insight to my shopping straegy to ensure I’m making smart purchases and only buying pieces I love. Stay tuned for more shopping and wardrobe maximizing tips …
